The club is yet to confirm it but Erik Soler will be appointed the new sporting director at New York Red Bulls.

The Norwegian revealed the news on a Champions League broadcast earlier this week and it was backed up when another source said it was a done deal.

A report in the New York Post revealed the following: '"I will lead the whole team, but the focus is on the sport side. That is where I will specialize," Soler said according to VG Nett. At least, that's what Google translated from Norwegian to English. "The plan is to be part of building a great club. We have a fantastic support from Red Bull. Such a challenge is difficult to say no to. Now all that just to get a work permit so I let into the country."'

Soler is a former Norway international who also played with Lillestrom, SK Brann and Hamburg - the latter being where he met the sporting director of all of Red Bull football, Dietmar Beirsdorfer.
