Solano: Newcastle right to take time over manager appointment

Newcastle United hero Nobby Solano says the club is right to take their time over a new manager appointment.

Solano wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "Newcastle United would be making the correct decision in waiting until the end of the season if it means the club get the right man for the role of head coach.

"It's always difficult changing a manager in the middle of the season and from the new guy's point of view it is difficult to get your own philosophy into the minds of the players too.

"From a playing point of view you always get into a way of thinking from the start of January and it can affect some of them if that's suddenly torn up and a new plan is in place.

"OK, not every time because some managers have swung things around but generally people like to be going off the same plan.

"There are positives in keeping on John Carver in position until the end of the season.

"The players already know him and trust him, so they will play for him accordingly.

"From the club's point of view they don't have to go crazy and get the wrong man for the job by rushing the decision."
