Sochaux forward Charlie Davies is still about half a year away from making a full return to competitive soccer.

The USA international was severely injured in a car accident last October and according to club president Alexandre Lacombe, the 24-year old is not up to the rigours of France's Ligue 1 just yet.

"According to doctors, it will take at least 18 months from the date of the accident to hope for real progress and know more," he told French newspaper L'Est Republicain. "It's a miracle he's still alive and doing well. Right now, Charlie isn't a Ligue 1-level player, that's for sure, but he continues to work hard ..."

Davies has made great progress since the accident but he will have to remain patient as he continues to get back to full fitness.
