Sochaux defender Rabiu Afolabi is keen on a move to England.

The Nigeria international attracted interest in January from Aston Villa and told Tide Sports: "Aston Villa came asking about me two weeks ago but to my surprise, Sochaux blocked the transaction demanding 1.5million euro to release me.

"I was very furious about it. Since my contract remains just five months, I see no reason the management did not allow me to go.

"Aston Villa offered to have me on loan and it will be expected to pay my month salary till end of the month and this is a logical thing for Sochaux to accept because as is it now, at the end of the season I will leave and Sochaux will have nothing on me."
