Socceroos tumble to 84th in the world

The Australian national team has fallen to number 84 on FIFA rankings.

Ange Postecoglou's Socceroos have dropped to their worst ever rating in world football despite beating Saudi Arabia 3-2 in their latest outing.

Australia were beaten by Chile, Holland and Spain at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and have since lost 2-0 to Belgium in a friendly prior to edging Saudi Arabia in London less than two weeks ago.

Additionally, the Socceroos have dropped to ninth on the Asian Football Confederation table in what has been a massive fall from grace for the national team who just three years ago were ranked 19th.

Australia now sits behind new regional leaders Iran, Japan, Uzbekistan, Korea Republic, Jordan, UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia in the AFC.

At the pointy end of the FIFA rankings, World Cup winners Germany and runners-up Argentina remain at one and two respectively ahead of Colombia, who have moved into third, fourth-placed Holland and Belgium in fifth.

Making up the world's top 20 is Brazil (6), Uruguay (7), Spain (8), France (9), Switzerland (10), Portugal (11), Chile (12), Italy (13), Greece (14), Costa Rica (15), Mexico (16), USA (17), England (18), Croatia (19) and Algeria (20).
