Al-Gharafa midfielder Mark Bresciano is considering a return to Italy.
The 33-year old Australian international has been cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to play for the Socceroos at the 2014 World Cup after sustaining a four-month ban in relation to his transfer from Al Nasr to Al-Gharafa.
Bresciano is banned from taking part in any competitive matches in Qatar until mid-March so is seeking a temporary move back to Italy so he can play regular friendly matches which will help him maintain fitness prior to Brazil.
"I am allowed to play in friendly games at club and international level," the former Empoli, Parma, Palermo and Lazio man said.
"I'm only suspended for official games till 13 March so in the meantime I will think about going back to Italy at one of my former clubs.
"If Al-Gharafa can't put on any friendly games for me I will speak to the Sheikh (Al-Gharafa president Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani) and ask for permission to go to another club where I know I will get some friendly games on a weekly basis.
"I'm not sure how he will take it but I'm going to ask.
"I would think in Europe. Obviously I was in Italy for a long time and I know that every club has a friendly game in midweek.
"This would have to be the easiest course of action for me.
"The four clubs I played for know me and I know the people there but if it does not happen I would have to consider other clubs.
"At this stage it's just me talking out loudly. I have not spoken to my club yet but if they do give me permission I would really consider it."
