Pele has spoken highly of the standard of soccer being played in the USA at present.
The Brazilian great came to America 40 years ago to join New York Cosmos, then a member of the old North American Soccer League, with his arrival sparking plenty of interest in the game in the 1970s.
Pele is now the honorary president of the reformed NY Cosmos, who are set to kick off in the new NASL in 2013, and is excited about what is ahead as he feels that the game has changed tenfold since he was last involved.
"In my time, we started to promote football and started with the game," Pele told MLSsoccer.com.
"Cosmos had a lot because it grew quickly. We had some big names and we had a good team.
"But now, soccer in the United States is a reality because the level is a very good level. There are a lot of young players playing in Europe and outside of the United States."
