Leroy Sane has returned to Manchester City training after recovering from an ankle injury.

The wily winger suffered the affliction during City's League Cup win over Bristol City.

He was expected to miss a month of football, but has returned just two weeks later. He has travelled with teammates to Switzerland for the Citizens' Round of 16 Champions League clash with Basel.

Manager Pep Guardiola said: "I'm surprised. He worked a lot. I could not expect how professional he was and the physio was perfect.

"He is not in a perfect condition but he wants to help us. He is with us and that is good news."
