Smolarek: I just want to help Bolton win

On-loan Racing Santander striker Ebi Smolarek hopes to help Bolton Wanderers win at Manchester United this weekend.

He said: "When I came to England I wanted to see the Bolton stadium and I was not concentrating about the stadium of Manchester. I look forward to beating them but not about playing in the stadium.

"What can I do special? I want to play well for the team and help them win matches. It's not about me, it's about the team and I hope to do something with them and try my best.

"I am impressed with the players but it's about how we work together as a team and that the fans like it."

The former Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund forward admits he's still settling in at Bolton but is looking forward to the challenge ahead alongside some familiar faces.

"I'm happy to be here because the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. It's been my first week here so it has been difficult but I like it.

"I know Johan Elmander from my time at Feyenoord - he's a nice guy and I like him very much. But not just him, I like to play with all the players here. I have to get to know them and they have to know me but it's going to get better.

"Everything is new so we'll have to see how I get on."
