Smolarek desperate for Bolton first team action

On-loan striker Ebi Smolarek wants regular first team football at Bolton. The Poland international was given his Premier League debut in last weekend's 3-1 home defeat by Arsenal and the 27-year-old is looking forward to regular football under Megson.

"I want to play and not sit on the bench," said Smolarek. "That is what I intend to do here.

"This is one of the best leagues in the world. The first weeks are always difficult as you get to know each other but I like it here."

Bolton have a fixture against Manchester United this weekend, and Smolarek is good friends with compatriot Tomasz Kuszczak.

"While it is good to be facing Manchester United, I am looking forward to beating them, not admiring the stadium," he continued.

"Tomasz is a very good goalkeeper and a good friend of mine but it is possible to score against him."
