Smith still optimistic Miller will not leave Rangers

Walter Smith believes that 20-goal Rangers striker Kenny Miller will not be off-loaded in the January transfer window. Miller was on target in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Inverness Caledonian Thistle although his missed second half penalty prevented his side from moving five points clear at the top.

The striker is out of contract at the end of the season and speculation is rife that he may be sold in January to avoid the club losing him for nothing in June.

But Smith said he is hopeful of contract talks resuming and said he has had no bids for the Scotland international.

"I don't know where he is going to go. Nobody does," said Smith.

"You keep getting this speculation but from our point of view we have not had any enquiries or offers from anyone so hopefully he can stay and hopefully he can continue to score goals."
