Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear says Alan Smith is in the squad for today's derby with Sunderland.
Kinnear says that Smith will be in the squad despite playing just 65 minutes of last Tuesday's reserve game at Man City.
He said: "Needs must and I have to take some risks."
