Rangers played out a dull 0-0 draw with the Portuguese side last week and Smith knows they will have to hit the net to keep their UEFA Cup dream alive.

"Let's not forget we've scored goals away from home already this season in Europe," stated Smith.

"We scored away from home against Panathinaikos in an earlier Uefa Cup encounter and we also scored away from home during our Champions League campaign.

"We went to Stuttgart and scored a couple of goals in the group section and we scored three over in Lyon, as well. And we scored away to Zeta in the Champions League qualifying rounds.

"So we have goals in us away from home."
