Rangers boss Walter Smith admits they couldn't compete with Bursaspor in their battle to keep Kenny Miller.
Miller has joined the Turks on a cool £50,000-a-week deal.
Rangers offered Miller a last-ditch deal which would have made him the highest earner at the club although it paled into insignificance alongside the mind-boggling sums on offer at Bursaspor.
Smith said: "I understand Kenny's decision. You get to his age, 31, and it is effectively his last big move and the opportunity to get what he and his family want from his career.
"We made Kenny a good offer but when you hear what players are paid in Turkey, Rangers are not able to reach that level. We understand why he has gone. Its just unfortunate it has happened in the middle of the season.
"The positive is we have Nikica Jelavic back and Id hope that would provide the cover we need. But obviously my preference was to have them playing together."
