Manchester United defender Chris Smalling expressed his pride at leading the Red Devils against Arsenal in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
The 25-year old was handed the captain's armband by manager Louis Van Gaal for the first time in his career and was delighted to accept the responsibility.
"While the opportunity is still there, we can put pressure on Arsenal and today is about our job," Smalling said prior to the clash.
"The big games are the ones everyone looks forward to.
"It is a proud honour to be captain and one that everyone looks forward to."
Fourth-placed United missed out on the opportunity to leapfrog Arsenal into third position as they failed to claim all the three points.
