Skipper Petrov keen on taking Villa spot-kicks

Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov will demand that he take the penalties from now on.

Following recent misses by Ashley Young and James Milner, Petrov is keen to be the man to take the spot-kicks so his side can make the most of every opportunity.

"I will have a word and I will try to take the next one so we'll see how that goes," Petrov said.

"Obviously Ashley was disappointed after the miss against West Ham. When we don't win he's never happy, but he'll bounce back.

"He knows that when you take a penalty you miss or you score, sometimes things like that happen.

"I'll try my best. Will the manager let me take it? I hope so. There's been so far James and Ashley and I hope I can step in for the next one."

However, Young may have different ideas as he is keen to make up for his mistakes.

"Do I want the next one? Of course. I missed it but I've picked myself up and scored the goal," the England winger said.
