SKC's Juventus target Palmer-Brown targeting U20 World Cup

Erik Palmer-Brown insists he will be fully prepared for this year's FIFA U20 World Cup.

The highly-rated 17-year old Sporting Kansas City defender was selected in Tab Ramos' 35-man provisional squad for World Cup qualifying for the May tournament.

Palmer-Brown has recently been sidelined by a stress fracture in a bone in his right foot but is now looking to get back to full fitness in order to help his side make it to the major competition in New Zealand by successfully navigating the CONCACAF U20 Championship in Jamaica which kicks off next weekend.

"I spoke with Tab and he just told me to be ready," Palmer-Brown told SKC's official website.

"This U-20 cycle is packed with professionals who are playing domestically and overseas including some who could not get released for this tournament.

"I think we have a good group going into qualifiers and I have high hopes that we'll qualify for the U-20 World Cup."

And Palmer-Brown, who was the subject of a failed bid from Italian giants Juventus earlier this year, says he is prepared to do everything in his power to get the best result for the country.

"Tab told me he would call me in again after the qualifiers and to have the right mindset for when they need me," he added.

"I'm ready to do whatever I have to get back to playing soccer again. I'm working hard to keep my fitness up so I can be ready when the call comes."
