Billionaire Sir Philip Green has ruled out buying Everton.

"If I wanted to buy a football club, I'd write a cheque," Green told the Daily Mail. "I have no tie-up with Everton apart from friendships with Bill Kenwright and Robert Earl.

"I'm frequently being asked for advice and help people in football without being paid.

"I don't need Everton to help me make money. I have never been to Goodison Park."
