Sion hit out at UEFA boss Platini as Celtic prepare for Europa

FC Sion believe there is a case to have UEFA president Michel Platini arrested following his decision to ban them from the Europa League.

The Swiss club qualified for the group stage of the competition with a play-off win over Celtic but were thrown out after it emerged they had fielded five ineligible players.

Sion were granted a court order in Switzerland but lost their appeal to UEFA and now the clubs president Christian Constantin says Platini can go to jail as a result.

"If you have the judge's decision which gives the order to UEFA that FC Sion can play, and UEFA fails to comply, then that means that the judge now has. . . there's penal proceedings," he said.

"Then it's the police who will go and find Mr Platini. We've given Platini time to fix this, if he doesn't fix it, then...there's prison."

Constantin added: "Our real victory came on the pitch against Celtic. That is because we had qualified for the group stages by playing football.

"UEFA have not respected a decision of a tribunal and I don't understand this. Sion have won on the field and in the tribunal, but it is Celtic that go through to the group.

"Justice needs to be applicable in football because if not then we find ourselves in the Wild West."

Despite all this, it is Celtic who are preparing for tomorrow night's opening Europa League group stage match against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon Stadium and not Sion.
