Paul Simpson has been appointed the new manager of Shrewsbury after the former Preston boss signed a three-year deal at the New Meadow.
Simpson has been named as Gary Peters' replacement and will retain John McMahon, who guided the Shrews to two draws during his spell as caretaker boss, Stuart Delaney and Joe Hinnigan as part of his backroom staff.
Simpson, whose first game in charge is at Macclesfield this weekend, said: "I am very excited with the challenge that I now have with Shrewsbury Town. "I'm looking forward to getting started with the job in hand and helping to realise the chairman's ambitions."
Town chairman Roland Wycherley is confident he has found the man to "take the club forward".
"I am very delighted to have attracted a manager of Paul's calibre to the club," he said.
"We were extremely pleased with the quality of the applications for the post and it was a very difficult decision to make. We believe we have appointed the man to take the club forward."
