Newcastle United fullback Danny Simpson could have a big say in the future of Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson.
Toon and Sunderland are battling for the Irishman.
The Evening Chronicle says Gibson won't have to go too far to get advice on both clubs, with Simpson a close pal after their pair played together both at United, and at feeder club Royal Antwerp on loan.
