Newcastle United fullback Danny Simpson insists they can shake off their form slump.

Toon travel to Bolton on Boxing Day trying to end a slump which has seen them bag two points from the last 18.

Simpson said: "Let people think we're on the slide.

"I know we've not won for a few games now but we stick together. Losing to West Brom was more disappointing than any of the last six games.

"Obviously, the first three, we were playing Man U, City and Chelsea. Then after that we lost to Norwich when everyone knew the defensive problems we had there.

"We must tighten things up. We've let in a lot of goals the past few weeks.

"Our main strength throughout our success was we were so organised and also tough to beat."
