It's clear that the Rojiblancos haven't done quite as well as recent seasons, but the Argentinian remains committed to the project.
"We're constantly reinventing ourselves," he said to reporters.
"Some players are restless because they want to play but I'm sure this year I'm going to be a better coach."
After a sluggish start, Simeone's half-time team talk appeared to do the trick.
"Barcelona are too far away, competing very well and it's difficult to see them losing," he continued.
"I told the players that the best way we can continue to reinvent ourselves is to look ahead and depend only on us.
"Hopefully we will arrive at the end of the season playing well thanks to thinking like that."
With the transfer window about to close, Simeone still hasn't decided if he will dip into the market or not.
"We are waiting to see what happens," he noted.
"I don't close any doors because the club works accordingly to what the team needs."
