Diego Simeone believes France won the World Cup playing the same way as his Atletico Madrid.

France coach Didier Deschamps has received some criticism for his pragmatic approach to the Russian tournament.

But Simeone insists: "Football is wonderful because nobody holds the truth and you can win in different ways.

"We have seen the triumph of France with similar characteristics. We are all competing to do our best. The arrival of good footballers guarantees individuality, but that does not necessarily make a great team, because it requires a structure that engages everyone in the same direction.

"They all bring talent, but the talent comes from the work. Without work we cannot improve."
