Antoine Griezmann will be in the top trio of players competing for the mantle of world's best for 2016.
That is the opinion of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone who feels the French forward is likely to go up against usual suspects Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the 2016 Ballon d'Or.
Griezmann, 25, has scored 57 goals in 107 matches since joining Atleti from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2014 and his recent form includes winning the Golden Boot at Euro2016 by scoring six goals as France made it to the final.
Regarding the form of Griezmann, a proud Simeone said: "He is in the top three footballers who are likely to win the Ballon d'Or.
"He has played well, he is a determined player, and I believe he is one of the top three this year."
Simeone was speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Atletico's International Champions Cup meeting with Tottenham Hotspur in Melbourne.
