Simao Sabrosa insists Atletico Madrid deserved their draw with Champions League opponents Liverpool last night.

Simao managed to cancel out Robbie Keane's opener for Liverpool to rescue a point for Atletico and he said at the final whistle: "A draw was a good result because we have had some not so good games.

"This will give us confidence. Now we are two teams with seven points and we must continue like this to move to the next round.

"We played more compact, that was the way to surprise Liverpool and in the end the result was fair. This goal was good for me and for the team it has been very important. We could even have won.

"All matches are different, but we want to play in the Champions League. In the domestic competition we have not had the same level, but that will change. We are closer to our better form."
