Marco Silva has quit as Hull City manager, the club has confirmed.
Silva joined the Tigers in January, and despite not being able to wrestle the club from relegation, he made a valuable impression during his short stint.
It is understood the Portuguese exercised a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the club if they are relegated to the Championship.
A statement from the club read: "Although disappointed by Marco's departure, we would once again like to place on record our appreciation of his efforts and those of his support staff.
"Despite only being in charge for a short period of time, the 39-year-old became a firm fans' favourite and will be forever remembered for his efforts to maintain our Premier League status."
