David Beckham's loan deal to Tottenham is unlikely to go ahead according to manager Harry Redknapp.
The 35-year old former England captain is currently training with Spurs but is almost certain to return to MLS club LA Galaxy for pre-season training in February.
Redknapp insisted that a short-term contract now seemed a long shot.
"David has to be back there (America) in February and there's not a lot of time, which is a shame," Redknapp told Sky Sports.
"He has been good to have around and he really is a class act, a fantastic professional and a credit to the game who we are delighted to have training with us."
