Sidwell hints at possible Fulham exit

Although keen to sign a new contract with Fulham, Steve Sidwell could be on his way through the exit door this summer.

The 31-year old midfielder has been a star for the Cottagers in an otherwise bleak campaign which has seen them relegated to the Championship.

That scenario will force the southwest London club to make changes over the offseason which could include the departure of Sidwell who suggests his days at Craven Cottage may be numbered despite telling the club he was keen to sign on in January.

"I've told the football club at the end of last year I wanted to sign another deal," he told talkSPORT, contrary to reports that he was set to open talks with the club soon.

"I wanted to stay here, I love the club.

"I told them at the end of last season I wanted to stay. We tried to sit down in pre-season and talk but it wasn't very good.

"In January, I reiterated that I wanted to sign and they have just brushed that away. Maybe that has shown the club's cards on that front.

"We'll have to wait and see if the football club want to keep me."
