The midfielder had a hand in Salomon Kalou's goal and told his club's website: "It was a tough game, it's a tough place to come here. It's their first season in the Premier League and they sat deep and made it hard for us.
"The first goal came at a good time, from a good move, and the second came at the right time. You're always anxious to get the first goal, and we looked comfortable in possession, had to be patient and find chances, and thankfully the second one cropped up.
"We tried to pass it round and looked good on the ball. They sat deep, maybe too deep, and invited us on to them, trying to counter attack, but they didn't really do that."
Sidwell was pleased at John Terry's return, saying: "Obviously you're going to miss players like that, and the boys stepped in well while he was away, but now he's back and looking to get form back with our squad."
