Shrewsbury snap up Man Utd winger Barnes

Shrewsbury have snapped up Manchester United winger Michael Barnes on-loan.

Shrews boss Paul Simpson said: "I've signed him on loan until the end of the season and if he's what we are looking for then we will look to try and do something with him in the summer."

Barnes, who has one first-team appearance to his name, has played 14 times for the Reserves this season.

Simpson added: "He's a wide player who can play left or right, although he tends to play on the left but he is predominantly right footed. I'd like to see him play down the middle as well as he has got the pace to be able to cause problems.

"He's an exciting player and has great pace, which I think we are lacking a little bit."
