Sunderland owner Ellis Short won't rush into his next managerial opponent.

The Daily Mail says Short is determined to get this one right so with chief exec Margaret Byrne and director of football Roberto De Fanti, they're going through a list of six or seven and will "take their time".

Caretaker manager Kevin Ball will be in charge for Liverpool, at least, and he proved last night that the players want to play for him following their Capital One Cup win over Peterborough United.
