“At Villa I wasn’t enjoying myself as much as when I was playing,” Shorey, who signed for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £1 million, told the Sunday Mercury.
“It was just one of those things, I suppose I knew that I needed to move on, that’s why I went to Nottingham Forest and Fulham to play football. I don’t want to just sit about, I want to be playing football.
“That’s why I joined West Brom because my aim is just to be playing again. I’ve really enjoyed the last few games and I’m up for the challenge here. Obviously it’s been a tough start to the campaign but the spirit is good and we all know what we want to achieve.
“For me it’s just nice to be involved in a squad again, and to be playing. I think we’ve played well so far and we’re learning from each game.
“We are just looking forward to each game now.”
