Shimizu S-Pulse striker Alex Brosque admits he is looking forward to taking on the Japan national team.

The Australian international, who has scored 10 J-League goals since joining Shimizu from Sydney FC in January 2011, says it would be a thrill to meet the Blue Samurai in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Brisbane in June.

"After what's happened to my career circumstances the last two seasons, it would be just fantastic to be given the chance to play for Australia against Japan," Brosque told The World Game.

"Before I left Australia, one, I never thought I would be playing in Japan and, two, I would be part of the Socceroos set-up.

"So after managing to do both, yes, leading my country's attack against Japan would be something that dreams are made of."

And Brosque indicated that he will have to perform at his best leading up to the Japan clash if he is to win a starting berth in Holger Osieck'sline-up.

"There is some quality in the Socceroos' attacking department," he added.

"Take Brett Holman, for example, who's been doing so well for so long.

"He's got to be in pole position to take on Japan and if he's fit he should be in for sure.

"And then there is Josh Kennedy, who is out injured at the moment but should be ok for June."
