England legend Peter Shilton has told Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart to get back to basics.
Shilton, capped a record 125 times by England, agrees it is time the 26-year-old Manchester City goalkeeper - 6ft 4in and a magnet for advertisers - should concentrate on being safe rather than spectacular.
"Joe was a breath of fresh air when he got into the England side. He had that bit of arrogance about him, which is what your defenders want," Shilton told the Mail on Sunday.
"But I always feel that being brilliant is a bonus for a goalkeeper. What you need, certainly from an international goalkeeper, is consistency. You are only allowed a mistake every 18 months, and that includes club games. It's no good being brilliant one minute and making mistakes the next because people will always pick on your bad bits. That is what is happening to Joe."
