England legend Peter Shilton says the country needs Joe Hart to be playing regularly for Manchester City ahead of the World Cup.
He believes that the current defence in Roy Hodgson's side have been making too many errors - mistakes they will not be able to afford in Group D against Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica.
Shilton told the Daily Echo: "He has to be playing regular Premier League football before he goes to the World Cup.
''He's had a bit of bad spell but I hope he comes out of it a better player and gets back in the Man City team and it's always a key position for England.''
