England legend Peter Shilton says Fabio Capello was right to dump Sunderland striker Darren Bent from his World Cup squad.
The former Charlton and Spurs striker has six caps - but ex-keeper Shilton, who has 125 caps, thinks everyone should have faith in boss Capello.
He said: "I can understand why Sunderland fans will feel Darren should be at the World Cup.
"He was absolutely terrific for Sunderland last season and the only Englishman to outscore him in the Premier League was Wayne Rooney.
"Darren scored more goals than Jermain Defoe and a lot more than Emile Heskey and Peter Crouch - so you can see the case for taking him.
"But you have to trust the manager and he has to select teams, systems and players he thinks will work.
"I think it's fair enough he left Darren out if he felt that, for all his goals, it wasn't going to work.''
