Tim Sherwood wants to bring his own staff with him to West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies were hoping to have Pepe Mel's replacement in position by Friday but the situation has proved less straightforward than anticipated and will now continue into the weekend.
PA Sport says former Tottenham boss Sherwood is the leading candidate but at least one other applicant remains in the picture.
Reports out of the midlands suggested that Sherwood had agreed personal terms but was holding up the deal over those offered to his preferred assistants Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey.
