Sherwood to step in as Hyypia drops Brighton quit hint

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood is being linked with Sami Hyypia's job at Brighton.

The Mirror says Hyypia is considering his future after a dismal run of three wins in his 21 league games in charge of the Seagulls.

Even if the Liverpool legend decides he wants to stay, chairman Tony Bloom is ready to wield the axe for fear of dropping into League One.

Former Tottenham manager Sherwood is close pals with Brighton chief executive Paul Barber and was interviewed before Hyypia took over in the summer.

Hyypia said: "Usually I am not a quitter, I am a fighter but I need some time. At the moment I feel very frustrated."
