Tim Sherwood retains hope of keeping hold of his Tottenham job.
The ex-Spurs midfielder reckons he needs time - and up to five summer signings - to put his real stamp on the club.
He said: "Guardiola came out of managing the B team and youth team at Barcelona and was given the opportunity to build something and show what he could do.
"You have to give him credit for that. It's a tough job. He's a tough act to follow. Look at the guy who has gone in after him, he is certainly under scrutiny now.
"I am asked questions as Tottenham manager and it seems to be quite intense about the future.
"I am talking about this season before we start planning for next year. It's just one stage at a time and I've got six cup finals between now and the end of the season, and it's really important to me that we show the fans something to make them optimistic about next season.
"It takes time - it is hard to put an imprint on how you want to play when you need to win every single game you're managing in. That's where I am at the moment."
