Sherwood proud of Tottenham youngsters after thrashing Inter Milan 7-1

Tottenham development coach Tim Sherwood was delighted with their 7-1 thrashing of Inter Milan in the Next Gen series.

A hat-trick from Tomislav Gomelt and a brace each from Alex Pritchard and Souleymane Coulibaly saw Spurs sweep aside the Italian outfit at Leyton Orient's Matchroom Stadium and go top of the group, that also includes FC Basel and PSV Eindhoven.

Sherwood told the Spurs website: "It was our group against theirs and it was our day. We won't gloat about the scoreline though because it's all about the performance and we had some outstanding performances out there.

"Massimo Luongo was immense in midfield, as was Jake Nicholson, but Souleymane Coulibaly was unbelievable. He played up front on his own, absolutely battered their two centre-halves and scored two goals.

"Alex Pritchard was great, the two young boys at the back, Kevin Stewart and Milos, the full-backs Daniel Day and Jack Barthram - they were all excellent.

"It's not just about winning football matches at this age, it's about developing footballers and at the moment, we're happy with our performance. We're not gloating about victory, because we know we could be on the end of a defeat. It's about how our lads play, and they all played very well."
