Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has told new manager Tim Sherwood he must sell if he wants to buy in January.
The People says Levy is insisting the Londoners sell before they buy following their £110million summer spree.
Spurs will pocket £6m from Jermain Defoe's move to Major League Soccer club Toronto and are trying to find a buyer for £4m-rated defender Kyle Naughton.
But that figure of around £10m is likely to be all Sherwood is given when the window opens on Wednesday as there are few other players Spurs are willing to let go and would earn any significant fees from.
