Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is hugely impressed by coach Tim Sherwood.
The People says Levy is such a fan of the former England midfielder that Sherwood may even be picking the side with the title of first-team coach, working beneath an experienced director of football.
Sherwood, already on the Spurs coaching staff, was being lined up as a potential No.2 to work alongside former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti when Harry Redknapp leaves Spurs.
And Ancelotti is still in Levy's thoughts.
Sherwood is a friend and business partner of Redknapp's son Jamie and has proved the star of Spurs' backroom set-up, despite Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan being more senior.
