Sherwood eager for Tottenham answer

Tottenham caretaker manager Tim Sherwood says he would like to soon discover an answer regarding the permanent position at White Hart Lane.

Sherwood oversaw his first Premier League game in charge at Spurs since Andre Villas-Boas was removed last weekend, guiding the north Londoners to a 3-2 win at Southampton, and admits it would be nice to know as soon as possible if he is able to retain the job on a less regular basis provided it suits all interested parties.

"I never said I wanted the job and I never said I don't want the job," Sherwood told Sky Sports 1.

"I've got to talk to the chairman and see where they want to take this football club."

He added, regarding the decision on the job: "Sooner rather than later, as these players need a manager.

"Hopefully I will speak to the chairman (Daniel Levy) tonight. I don't want it (the job) on a temporary basis. I want it for the long term. It's got huge tradition but at the end of the day, it's got to be right for me."

Emanuel Adebayor was the hero for Tottenham, equalising in the 25th minute after Adam Lallana's opener, before netting a 64th-minute winner following Jos Hooiveld's own-goal and Rickie Lambert's leveller on the hour-mark.
