Sheridan assured of Chesterfield job even if relegated

Chesterfield owner Dave Allen insists John Sheridan's position as manager is safe even if the club are relegated from League One this season. The Blues have struggled to adapt to a higher level this season and are currently bottom of the League.

"I'm not for sacking managers, there's lots of teams that have sacked their managers and have not done any better," Allen told BBC Radio Sheffield. "I'm a great believer in business that if you've got the right man back him.

"John's a good manager and a great coach, we've had a bit of a hiccup this year but he's a sensible guy.

"Let's hope this victory gives us some impetus and we can start getting a few wins and get out of it."
