Sheffield Wednesday are willing to make Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes the highest paid player outside the Premier League.
The Sunday Mirror says Wednesday will make a stunning move for Rhodes – a deal that would smash their transfer record.
The Owls' Portuguese coach Carlos Carvalhal has already been backed with big money from the club's Thai owner, the mega-rich Dejphon Chansiri and spending will continue with Rhodes.
Blackburn rejected a £14million bid from Middlesbrough in the summer, but now Wednesday will complete a move for the striker, and Chansiri is willing to make him the highest paid player outside the Premier League.
