Sheffield Wednesday are launching a bid for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes.
The Sun says Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal is ready to outbid Aston Villa for Middlesbrough hit man Rhodes.
Carvalhal has been given the go-ahead from the Owls owner to offer £8million plus extras for the out-of-favour striker.
Villa boss Steve Bruce went as high as £6m plus £4m in adds-on last week, but Boro supremo Steve Gibson wants £12 million for his expensive reserve.
Now Wednesday have finally joined the bidding to sign Rhodes full time after asking for him on loan earlier in the window.
The Yorkshire club had a bad weekend with Stephen Fletcher picking up a ban for a red card and their side hit by further problems in a costly defeat at Brighton.
