Sheffield Wednesday are ready to listen to loan offers for Jordan Rhodes.
The Sun says they could let striker Rhodes, 28, go on loan to get his big wages off their payroll.
They may even have to settle for just a slice of his current salary being paid.
Rhodes was the club's record signing in a £10million deal from Middlesbrough.
But two successive bosses have failed to get the best out of him and his Hillsborough record is only four goals in 28 games.
Former Huddersfield Town man Rhodes joined the Owls from Middlesbrough on an initial loan deal in February 2017 before making his move to Hillsborough permanent.
