Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has given his backing to under-pressure Newcastle United counterpart Steve McClaren.
Following the 1-0 loss to the Owls in the third round of the Capital One Cup, Geordie manager McClaren was booed by home fans to compound an already dismal beginning to their season.
But Wednesday boss Carvalhal empathised with his opposing number after heaping more misery on the Magpies.
Carvalhal said: "I recognise a very good coach, I recognise very good players.
"It's very easy to recognise - that's why our victory means much more than a normal victory, because we know we beat a very good team with a very good coach in their stadium, so of course we are very happy about that."
