New Sheffield United signing Gary Speed was at Bolton Wanderers yesterday to say his final goodbyes.

Trotters boss Gary Megson said: "He comes in today to say his goodbyes and pick up his boots. He has been a great servant with every club he's played for, including Bolton.

"But he's not playing enough and that's what he wants to do. It's a good deal for all parties."

"We are hopefully bringing in a similar type player who may give us more in the future in terms of his age."
